Family camping trip May 2013 - Sugar Pine Lake

Grandpa teaching the kids about FIRE.

Peter enjoyed his dinner.

Grandpa gave Ben a pocketknife and he used it every chance he got.

Of course we took bikes - did you have to ask?

Ben found a turtle while geocaching.  Upon closer inspection, we noticed that the turtle had a fish hook stuck in it's mouth.  It looked like it had been there a while by the amount of rust on the hook...

We were able to get the hook out and the turtle swam away - rescue complete!

Crazy cyclist

So this is the major headline in today's news.

Unusual freezing rain causes dangerous commute http://www.ksl.com/index.php?sid=23839268&nid=148

It was an extremely slippery drive to school and i saw a lot of crashed cars and even saw some happen. In the middle of driving,  focusing on keeping the rain from not freezing on the windshield and making sure i don't slide into anyone and nobody slides into me, i see in the distance a man riding his bike with a trailer on the back with his kids in it. Proof that there are people who are just as crazy or even more crazy than dad!

Christmas Lights bike ride 2012

We had our Christmas Lights bike ride tonight.  We had about 40 people on bikes riding around the neighborhood and then back to our house for hot chocolate, spiced cider, and cookies.  We spruced up the backyard with Christmas lights and a outdoor fire pit so people could hang out outside as well.  I had the music in the BOB trailer blasting away, which managed to get more than one neighbor to come outside and see what was going on...

Matthew was a bit worn out at the end:

I tried to take pictures during the ride, but they didn't come out.

Wish you all could have been here...

I missed the airplane

So Owen was sick on Thursday night and Friday. Kensie got the same thing and was throwing up Saturday night and Sunday. When I was going to bed last night my stomach felt a little upset but I thought it was just because I had too much pie and ice cream. I was trying to eat all the food because we were leaving to Virginia the next morning and not coming back for a few weeks. When I woke up this morning my stomach still hurt a little but we had a flight to catch so I drank some pepto and we hit the road. Kensie's aunt was driving and about halfway to the airport I started not feeling so good so I rolled down my window to get some fresh air. A few seconds later I was hurling purple vomit out the window in a very uncontrollable manner. Two lanes had been shut down causing a large traffic jam, but luckily we were cruising in the carpool lane when this all happened. So I'm sure at least a couple dozen people got to witness my experience, and probably only a lucky few got showered with a purple pie like substance as we drove past. Still feeling queasy I sent Kensie off with Jake and the boys and rescheduled my ticket for tomorrow morning. It only seemed to last a day with both Owen and Kensie so I hope I am feeling better by then. I should of taken a picture of Ele's van, one side had turned purple.

Sick day

We've just been hanging out all day hoping that Owen gets better. He was throwing up all night last night and this morning. He's been doing good today and we hope it is gone.
